Important Dates to Remember:
Team Formation Deadline is mid-July; any team that does not contain the minimum number of players designated by STYSA will not be formed on this date.
Official Beginning of Fall 2020 Season: Practices normally begin in late July or early August for our U9 and older teams that fall under the Houston Youth Soccer Association (HYSA) or South Texas Youth Soccer Association (STYSA). The RDL and P&M practices will begin in September after Labor Day. Some of our more competitive teams have continuous practice schedules. If assigned to or trying out for one of those teams, the coach will contact you as soon as they are notified of the registration.
UNIFORMS: Our hummel uniforms are ordered through Soccer 4 All for our U9 and older teams. New club members will receive an email from Soccer 4 All after team assignment with a link to order your kit. Recreational and Development League (RDL) and Parent & Me (P&M) uniforms are issued during practice. There are different requirements for uniforms based on age and competition level. The kits start at $70 for 2 jerseys, 1 pair of shorts and 1 pair of socks. Prices and requirements will go up from there. You may order additional kit items, such as jackets and pants, through the website even if it is not mandatory for your player. Please note, the window for orders will be very tight and you are responsible for ensuring your child has their kit ordered on time for opening weekend. The club will also send a reminder email to ensure you have received information from Soccer 4 All to place your order.
The following is the Current Fee Schedule for the Fall 2020 Season:

Recreational Developmental League (RDL): For players born between 2013 and 2016. Practices are Tuesdays from 6-7 PM. Games are on Fridays from 6-7 PM at George Park. New RDL players will receive their uniform at a practice prior to the first game. Returning players should already have a uniform. If the uniform is lost, unserviceable or does not fit, please let your coach know so we can get it replaced. The uniform is included in your registration cost and includes a two-sided jersey, a pair of shorts and a pair of socks. Your child will need soccer cleats and shin guards to complete the kit. All RDL players get an award at the end of the season. The fee for RDL is $130 per season for new players.
U9 through U10 (Division 4): For players born between 2011 and 2012. Practices are twice a week with times TBD under the direction of our volunteer coaches. Games are on Saturdays and are split between George Park and the opponent's home fields. Uniforms are NOT included in the registration fee. They are ordered and distributed by Soccer 4 All and an email with that information will be sent once your child is registered. Additional uniform pieces can be ordered at your own expense should you desire them. The fee for Div 4 is $155 per season for new players.
U11 through U19 (Division 3): For players born between 2010 and 2002. Practices are twice a week with times TBD under the direction of our volunteer coaches. Games are on Saturdays and are split between George Park and the opponent's home fields. Uniforms are NOT included in the registration fee. They are ordered and distributed by Soccer 4 All and an email with that information will be sent once your child is registered. Additional uniform pieces can be ordered at your own expense should you desire them. The fee for Div 3 is $195 per season for new players.
Qualifying Dynamo/Dash League (DDL), Super 2 (DDL) and Division 1 (Classic, State Classic League (SCL) and Premier): These teams are competitive and require a try-out before team assignment. All games are played away at STYSA designated locations. Teams practice a minimum of twice per week with times TBD and under the direction of our volunteer coaches. Games are generally on Saturday although U15 and up play primarily on Sunday. Uniforms are NOT included in the registration fee. They are ordered and distributed by Soccer 4 All and an email with that information will be sent once your child is registered. Additional uniform pieces can be ordered at your own expense should you desire them. Because these teams are in a more competitive league and have additional commitments and requirements, the fees are higher. Some teams also have additional fees to support tournament play and extra training gear. The fees for these teams are listed below.
The Fall 2020 season fees for the following teams are $140 for RETURNING players and $260 for NEW players:
U16 Boys Lamar Storm (Super 2 – Dynamo League)
U14 Boys Lamar Legends (D2L – Div 2 League) separate spring season

Practice Player - $100 for practice player registration – Allows players to practice and attend team tournaments only. Requires prior approval.
Payments: Payments must be made on time. Delinquencies can result in a restriction from play for your child. Players returning from Spring 2020 taking the discounted rate must pay in full once they are placed on a team. Payment plans for returning players are only available if you have multiple children playing. Contact the registrar immediately if you need information on or want to activate a payment plan. Be advised, credit cards on file will be charged as soon as the player is placed on a team, around mid-July (not at the time of registration), so please make sure that information is updated if it changes after the initial registration process.

Competitive vs. Recreation Level
Division IV - Recreational – Under-10 and younger players
Children learn the basics of soccer through positive, fun training sessions that include short demonstrations and lots of participation. The primary goal of this play level is fun and the opportunity to play. There is a requirement that coaches make every effort to play each player at least 50% of each game.
Division III - Recreational – Under-11 through Under-19
Designed for players who enjoy the sport for the social aspect as well as developing their skills, recreational teams in these age groups are formed through assignment of all interested participants to a team. There is a requirement that coaches make every effort to play each player at least 50% of each game.
Division II – Competitive – Playing in EDD2L – Under-11 through Under-19
This introductory level of competitive play is designed for those who enjoy the social aspect of the game and want to continue to develop their skills through better competition. There is a requirement that coaches make every effort to play each player at least 50% of each game.
Super II – Competitive – Playing in DDL – Under-11 through Under-19
Selection of players based on talent and ability is permitted and generally includes a pool of players from a broader spectrum. Teams participate in the Super II league within the District which requires more commitment with regard to travel and expense. There is a requirement that coaches make every effort to play each player at least 50% of each game.
Division I – Competitive – Playing – Under-13 through Under-19
Recognized as the highest level of play within the state, players may be selected from across the state based on their ability, skill and commitment to the sport including a more demanding practice and game schedule. There is no play time requirement at this level for U13-U19.

STYSA requires background checks for all coaches, assistants, managers & trainers. Please contact Heather Owens to get this process started thru STYSA.
PLAYER ID CARD
Each player has an ID printed with his/her team information on it; a picture must be provided and the ID must be laminated. The coach retains these cards for the players to present at each game to the referees for player check in as the player ID cards must be provided at each game in order for a player to participate.
Parents must fill out medical release form for each player and coaches keep this on file in the team binders.
Lamar must fill a volunteer referee quota mandated by HYSA. STSR has Referee training available. Becoming a referee not only helps the club, but puts money back in your pocket.

Refunds / Returning Player Discounts
Greetings during these unprecedented times. We, at Lamar SC, realize things are tough for everyone right now. The board has been meeting regularly to discuss what steps forward we might take to ensure the best possible outcomes for our players, their families, and the soccer community.
The board had a 3-hour meeting on Wed., April 8 to come up with a plan for the future. The email is lengthy but it is important information and should answer any question you have about what’s next at LSC.
The bottom line is that any activity for the spring or summer is a moving target. Although current restrictions end at the end of April, lesser restrictions or other types of restrictions may come into play. As a club, we can’t speculate toward what that might look like and can only work with what we know. We are hopeful that Fall 2020 happens under normal circumstances and are planning and watching anything else we can do before August as a gift/bonus for the club and its members.
The board has agreed the professional relationship with TTi has and will be beneficial, and although we weren’t able to fully test the relationship in the spring, we are going to do our best to move forward with an agreement that will allow all players to get at least 1 session per week with TTi. This will allow players to train with highly regarded coaches and receive input in addition to their normal team coaches. Primarily, it will be focused on TTi cadre guiding our RDL training sessions. But, it will also allow older players to get 3-4 contacts per week between teams and TTi if they choose in an effort to provide extra technical skills training. Finally, it will allow all of our club coaches from RDL up through the ranks to be mentored by professional coaches in an effort to improve our overall training level across the club. Funding this additional professional training will require us to raise our rates slightly for the fall across all age groups (which was already the intention prior to this epidemic). We know this comes at a difficult time, but we also made sure that we are still at or below other clubs in the area. And, we still offer scholarship opportunities to families who need extra financial assistance. We want your children to continue to play and enjoy the sport. Please let us know if you need help in that regard. We will do our best to keep your children on the field.
We also recognize that these are trying times for our members, and most of your spring seasons are not what you expected of them. While we do have some fixed costs for our field maintenance and other items, we want to return as much as we can to our members in a manner that makes sense for the members and for the continuity of the club. Please note that we do not expect to see a similar return of funds from our parent organizations (HYSA and STYSA) equal to what we are giving back. In fact, in some quick calculations, the club stands to lose between $20k and $40k for the year where our typical goal is to break even year-over-year.
After much discussion, we are going to primarily offer a large deduction for players registered in spring who return to play in the fall. This is the easiest way for our volunteer-run organization to give back to you and allows us the ability to be more generous (no bank, check, postage, credit card fees). For those that are not returning in the fall or would like a refund instead of a fall discount, we are also going to offer the option of a refund by request.
For credit card payers, the following will apply. If you are on a payment plan for spring and we stopped payment, we are going to treat it like a refund in order to keep the books straight. If you plan to return in the fall, you will need to complete your payment plan for spring by June 2020. Heather, our registrar, will work with each of you individually on your plan. To request a refund, you will need to email firstname.lastname@example.org requesting a refund. Keep in mind, if you take a refund, you will not be eligible for a fall discount registration rate, and refunds may take 6 weeks or more for us to get processed.
For cash and check payers, returning players will be registered for fall at the discounted rates in GotSoccer. To request a refund, you will need to email email@example.com requesting a refund. Fall registration will open soon. Once everything is setup we will send out a separate notice and post the information on our website. We do need you to register ASAP for club planning purposes. Due to the large rebate offer and our inability to process full rate or sibling rates, we will be eliminating the sibling discount for the 2020/2021 season. As always, we will not charge credit cards until teams are formed and we have some assurance of a fall season.
Rebates for the spring season early registrations and on-time payment will be distributed in the fall, as we do not have the means to handle this at this time.

We certainly hope all of your players return to soccer programming once it is safe to do so. Until then, we have produced some home-training videos (Facebook) and ideas as have many other organizations. Try and keep your kids on the ball. Try and keep them active and in shape. Stay as safe as possible, and our community will come back stronger than before.
