Common Questions & Information

Competitive vs. Recreation Level

At registration players may choose to join a Competitive team or remain Recreational. Competitive teams train as a team with Club Training Staff each season. Recreational teams receive training from the team coach & assistant.

Divisions

• Division I: Most competitive division, 3 levels, extensive time, training and travel.

• Super Blue: Good competitive teams, games in/near Houston, travel about 75 minutes.

Division II Strong: Very competitive, local games, max travel 35 – 50 minutes.

Division II Avg: Strong competition local games, max travel 35 – 50 minutes.

Division III Strong: Recreational

Division III Avg: Recreational

Division IV: U10 and below (players 9 years old and younger).

Kinder: Our BEST players! (children ages 4 and 5).

Fields

Lamar has 3 Large fields: L1, L2, & L3; 4 youth fields S1, S2, S3, S4, and 3 kinder fields.

Fields Manager

Assigns fields for team practices by Day/Time/Field; preferred practice days/times must be sent to FM, conflicts are resolved by FM.

General Manager (GM)

Lamar has a 3 GMs: a Boys GM, Girls GM, and U6-U9 GM assisting player assignments.

HYSA

Houston Youth Soccer Association, arranges Lamar Soccer Club games & playoffs.

KIDSAFE

STYSA requires background checks for all coaches, assistants, & trainers.  Please visit STYSA at KidSafe Online Registration and fill out the required form.

PLAYER ID CARD

Each player has an ID and must sign it and provide a picture to be laminated onto the ID the (WHITE) is presented at every game; (BLUE) is a back up ID Medical Release Form.
Parents MUST fill out
medical release form for each player.
Please have them notarized and keep in the Coaching Binder.

REFEREES

Lamar MUST fill a volunteer referee quota mandated by HYSA. HYSA has Referee training available.

SPONSORS

Sponsors help train and equip Lamar players. Each team shall provide a team sponsor.

TEAM MANAGERS

The team manager assists the coach, coordinates field duties, ID’s and snacks.

TEAM PICTURES

Team pictures are taken annually in the Fall.

TOURNAMENTS

Speak to your GM, Tournaments provide a great opportunity to develop players  and teams. Tournaments are listed on the STYSA website.

TRAINERS

Each team decides independently as to whether they will use a Club Trainer.  Club Fees are based on 1 or 2 weekly sessions: 4 months (Fall) and 2 1/2(Spring).

UNIFORMS

Club provided uniforms include (1) home jersey, (1) away jersey, shorts, and socks.
Old uniforms can be used for guest players.

The Lamar Soccer Club relies on parents to volunteer as coaches, board members, managers, sponsors, or by maintaining fields and equipment. Together we make a great club! For more information on how you can get involved, attend our monthly board meetings, contact one of the members at below, or call the Soccer Club Hotline at 281-342-0404.

The Lamar Soccer Club's Board of Director's meetings are held every 1st Wednesday of the month at the Pecan Grove Fire Station (upstairs) at 7:00pm, located on Pitts Road. Anyone and everyone is invited to come and get involved!
